Hello everyone. This will be a lengthy email as we have a lot of great updates and announcements! What a great night. We had a little underdeveloped snow at first and being asked when is it going to change to snow I jokingly said 6:29 pm. What a guess. It all changed to snow at 6:30pm and the race was on. Conditions held up nicely and a lot of the racers said this was the best so far this season. Many had their best times to date. It was also the first race for several. Some of the highlights from this week includeThe MS and under ladies skiers was won by Vivian Hans with a 28.53. The boarders was won by Sammie Dowling with a 43.58. The male MS skiers was won by Brendan O’Connor with a best of the night 21.79. The boarders was won by Jack Campbell with a 31.09. The HS male skiers was won by Moses White with a 22.44. The top 3 in this group were separated by only .12. The boarders was won by Jeb Laurenson with a 25.56. In the female skier category Perry Pate won with a 25.36. The boarders was won by Nicole Yoos with a 28.27. Nice job everyone.
Going forward we still have 3 points races. A lot can still happen. The weather in the High Country can change quickly so do not give up on the weather. It snowed 2-3 inches but more importantly will be cold thru Sunday morning allowing for a lot of snowmaking. The remaining race days are 3/4, 3/11, and the finals on 3/14. We will do a lot on the 14th. This is on a Saturday with the following schedule 8:30-10:45 registration, course inspection 10:15-10:45, race begins at 11am with middle school going first. Awards will be given out approximately 1 hour after the final racer comes down. We will have a lot of raffle prizes as well. Parents and siblings will be allowed to purchase tickets for $30. This will include lift ticket and rentals if needed. The tickets will be good from 9:00 till 5:00. This is a big savings off the regular rate. On March 18th we will have a fun day to make sure everyone has a chance for 9 days on the snow. We will have a dual slalom for fun that day. A great way to challenge your friends. Dual courses are rare in the South so this should be a lot of fun. Please let me know if you have questions on any of this.
The Boone Rail Jam is on the night of the 14th. A lot of our racers will be participating in this. It will be at Horn in the West ampitheater in Boone.
There is a race at Sugar this weekend. It is just for skiers. The race course is not as steep and they have GS gates similar to the one’s at App. The price is great for a Sunday. Let me know if you would like to try it. We have some of our racers already signed up.
